Kindergarten - 5th Grade
Blended learning and small group instruction are the hallmarks of the classroom in these grades.

CAB provides a  nurturing and engaging environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth. There is a strong focus on foundational skills, individualized learning, positive relationships with teachers, and a safe, supportive community.

Students in the primary grades receive the full benefit of the entire Academy curriculum, including an introduction to Spanish through cultural exposure to various Spanish-speaking countries around the world.

  • A strong focus is placed on early math skills and literacy at these grades, with science and social studies woven cross-curricularly through grade 3, and taught more independently beginning in grade 4.

  • Beginning in grade 1, students begin using i-Ready, an adaptive diagnostic software program that identifies and tracks foundational skills in reading and math for individual students, and used by teachers to inform their instruction.

  • CAB families often tell us our school is like a second home - we look forward to welcoming you home!

*Kindergarten:  We prefer children to be 5 years old by September 1. However, exceptions to this rule are occasionally made at the discretion of the principal and upon evaluation, as a private school we are not required to adhere to CT state requirements.
