On Thursday, Nov. 7, the Catholic Academy of Bridgeport will celebrate 20 years with a festive gala at Woodway Country Club in Darien, CT. Honorees are the school’s founding Board Chair, Mr. Larry Bossidy, and its founding Executive Director, Sr. Joan Magnetti, rscj.

Cocktails will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by an exciting program that includes a performance by students in the Academy’s Alegre Performing Arts Program, along with live by the energetic band “Men or Myth,” and a fabulous live auction and paddles up for need-based scholarship.
Mr. Bossidy was the Academy’s Board Chair from 2004-2009. Under his direction, significant and much needed structural repairs were made, modern technology was added, and an Endowment Fund was launched. Because of his foresight, the Academy remains a beacon of hope and light in the city of Bridgeport today. He is the former CEO of Honeywell and Allied Signal and held a number of executive positions at GE for 34 years. Mr. Bossidy is a graduate of Colgate University, lives in Ridgefield, CT, and attends St. Mary’s Church. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy, and they have 6 daughters, 3 sons and 29 grandchildren.
Sr. Magnetti was the Academy’s Executive Director from 2009-2019 and continues to serve with wisdom and joy as the Coordinator of Major Gifts. Since entering the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1965, she has dedicated her life to the education of youth. A graduate of Manhattanville University and Union Theological Seminary, she served for 32 years as Headmistress at Stuart Country Day in Princeton, NJ and Sacred Heart Greenwich in Greenwich, CT. Sr. Magnetti lives with her religious community in Bedford, NY.
